Firemen working to extinguish a fire that damaged a bus along Jalan Saratok-Pusa.

SARATOK: A bus commuting from Sibu to Kuching, burst into flames along Jalan Saratok-Pusa today (June 22).

Saratok fire chief Nazry Mohamat stated that no casualties or injuries were reported as the bus driver managed to get out to safety.

His men were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 9.35am.

Upon arriving at the scene, the team found that the bus was in flames by the roadside near a primary school.

The team managed to put out the fire, which caused about 90 percent damages to the bus around 11am.

Meanwhile in Bintulu, a fire burned down an uninhabited cottage at Jalan Kemunting.

Firemen from Bintulu station was despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 3.15am.

The flames were extinguished at 3.47am and no casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire in both cases is still being investigated.
