KUCHING: Newcomer e-hailing service provider JomRides launched its new application called “oHaa” during a seminar at SMA-TEGAS Digital Innovation Hub, iCom Square, today.

It was officiated by Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh and witnessed by 100 participants comprising students, professionals and retirees from Kuching and Kota Samarahan.

Established in October last year, JomRides has recorded up to 14,000 registered drivers called Rakan JomRides throughout the nation which have been approved and endorsed by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

According to its founder Gani Matahir, JomRides is the first e-hailing service provider that practises crowd sourcing in sharing revenue with the drivers.

“The aim of this technology is to embrace digital economy, a sustainable ecosystem growth that will benefit everyone, especially the B40 community.

“Through the eRezeki programme by MDEC, for example, the low income group can generate extra income by just utilising our JomRides apps. It is a platform for all levels of society,” he said.

Gani also explained that the latest app, oHaa, was purposely designed to give space to corporations and entrepreneurs to expand their market share without any interference from third parties.

“Now, businesses can offer e-hailing services of their own to the customer by joining oHaa. It will definitely increase productivity and less cost is needed,” he added.

The event was organised in collaboration with Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Kuching Division and Satok Community Sport Association, (KSK).

Also present at the event was JomRides co-founder Usop Jidin.
