MIRI: The Civil Defence Force (APM) here had a busy night when they responded to three emergency calls to rid of two beehives and two wasp nests at separate locations last Wednesday night (Nov 30).

APM Miri Officer Lt (PA) Mirwan Shah Masri in a statement said his men were first deployed to Taman Bulatan Saberkas at 6.50pm after a 55-year-old man informed of the existence of two beehives on a tree.

“They later found two football-sized beehives, located some 30 feet from the ground.

“A sky lift had to be enlisted by the team to help destroy the hives with spray and burn technique using Ridsect,” he said.

Following that, the team was then deployed to Jalan Lambir 1, Taman Jelita at 8.10pm after a 43-year-old man informed of a wasp’s nest on the exterior ceiling of his house.

The football-sized nest was destroyed using spray technique with Ridsect.

Mirwan added that the team’s third emergency case to attend to was at Kampung Lereng Bukit where a 24-year-old man reported that a wasp’s nest was seen inside the ceiling of his house.
