KUALA LUMPUR: Commander of Regiment 511 Askar Wataniah (Rej 511 AW) Colonel Abang Mohamad Abang Marzuki was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in an “Army Senior Officers’ Promotion Ceremony” held at Wisma Perwira here, last Wednesday.

He was one of the 30 senior officers of Malaysian Army (TDM) promoted, comprised of various Corps including one Volunteer Senior Officer.

Present to officiate at the ceremony was Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmad Hasbullah Nawawi.

Abang Mohamad was promoted after getting the consent of the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah which come into effect from Aug 1.

As the Commander of Reg 511 AW based in Kem Ria, Kuching, Brigadier General Abang Mohamad is responsible to lead the regiment comprising 51 officers and 2,796 other ranks.

Rej 511 AW is a military reserve force of the Malaysian Army. All together, there are 16 regiments Askar Wataniah in Malaysia.
