KUCHING: Groundworks, including that of soil investigation, have been laid for the construction of the Bakun dam bypass road.
Based on Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) in its website, it said along with the construction of 2.7km of new road, about 6km of an existing logging road is being upgraded to asphaltic concrete surfaced road.
A reinforced concrete bridge is also being built across Sungai Hap. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
The project is implemented by the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), under Recoda.
