SIBU: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has been asked to review the implementation of the revocation of COVID-19 vaccination certificates for individuals who fail to get the booster dose before April 1.

Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, who said this yesterday, said based on data from the ministry, about two million individuals have not yet received their booster doses.

He noted that those people who failed to get the booster will have their vaccination certificates automatically revoked on April 1.

“I have received hundreds of texts and calls from these concerned citizens urging me to write to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to convey their dissatisfaction and anger over the ministry’s policy.

“They have lost confidence in the vaccination policy and the way the ministry is doing things.

“Moreover the authorities have not provided a reasonable explanation to allay the people’s concerns about the vaccine; its side effects and the death rate due to it,” said the Democratic Progressive Party (PDP) president.

Tiong argued that people were not only afraid of being infected with COVID-19 but also feared that after receiving the first and second doses, they might continue to experience various pains and side effects.

He claimed that some individuals had obtained exemption letters from their doctors not to get vaccinated.

Yet, he said, they were ignored by the ministry which still urged them to get vaccinated, thus risking their lives.

“Some elderly people cry because they have been sitting in wheelchairs after receiving two doses vaccine. They now feel scared to death of being vaccinated, let alone get a booster,” he said.

The Dudong assemblyman also claimed that many people wondered why the MoH was implementing such a policy.

“Just think, if the vaccine had absolutely no side effects, it would not be life-threatening and would achieve better results against COVID-19.

“Injecting booster doses to at-risk and unsuitable groups is very dangerous. The only reason for death due to side effects of the dose is set aside and it is considered a ‘complication’ only,” said the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to China.

Following that, he stressed once again that the ministry should not force but let them choose the vaccines they want.

“Think about those who are paralysed after receiving the second dose and have to use a wheelchair after that.

“The victims in this heartbreaking situation are now being forced by the government to get a booster,” Tiong said.
