KUCHING: Sarawak DanceSport Association (SDA) has called for the inclusion of DanceSport as exhibition sport for the upcoming SUKMA XXI 2024.
The proposal received support from Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) and Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (JBS), after a series of meeting between president of SDA Chester Lim and officials from SSC, MSNS and JBS.
Following this, they have suggested to bring forth the matter to be presented to the federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
“This will serve to promote further interest and participation in DanceSport activities and development from the public,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Additionally, Lim also expressed enthusiasm to work alongside the SSC in future development programmes regarding DanceSport.
Meanwhile, the SDA is set to celebrate its 18th Anniversary Dinner and Dance alongside the Sarawak DanceSport Championship 2023 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on April 30.
