MUKAH: The future leadership rests in the hands of today’s youth, thus they require adequate training and preparation.

In stating this, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said it is important to nurture the potential of young individuals so that they can shape the nation’s future.

“Hence, the youth of today has to be trained, educated, and equipped with skills,” he said.

He said this at a gala dinner organised by the Mukah Melanau Association held at Kingwood Resort here recently.

Asfia further said Sarawak has a bright future and it is evident from the substantial allocation of RM12.6 billion in the 2024 State Budget.

“Additionally, Sarawak’s focus on green technology, including carbon trading, can generate new income for the state,” he added.

He also said in line with the developments, it is important to maintain the political stability and unity in the nation or the state.

“Political stability will attract investments. This will provide jobs for the youth and as a result boost our economy,” he said.

Among those present was Balingian assemblyman and Mukah Melanau Association chairman Abdul Yakub Arbi.
