Animal clinics can only see emergency cases
KUCHING: Pet owners are advised to contact their veterinary clinics to schedule an appointment first before bringing their pets there during the movement control order (MCO) period.
Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) president Datin Dona Drury-Wee said that veterinary clinics are allowed to operate but only for emergency cases.
“A lot of veterinary clinics have put up notices saying that appointments must be made beforehand,” she said in response to the government’s decision to allow veterinary clinics to operate.
Drury-Wee said recently, a pet owner contacted her about her cat’s condition which needed immediate medical attention.
“So, we gave her a couple of numbers to call first, and we told her to tell the veterinarian that she would be coming,” she said.
Therefore, she reminded pet owners to make appointment first before sending their pets to veterinary clinics.
Last Sunday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said veterinary clinics are allowed to operate on appointment with pet owners only.
He said appointments must be made in order to avoid crowding at veterinary clinics.
