Calling all blood donors

KUCHING: The Blood Bank of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) is appealing to all to come forward and donate blood to ensure continuous and sufficient blood supply for patients.

Head of Transfusion and Blood Bank Services Department (SGH), Dr Mohammad Masrin Md Zahrin said those who wish to donate blood but have just taken the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine are advised to wait for seven days from the date of the vaccination.

“If any side effects occurred, they have to wait for seven days after they healed completely.

“The blood bank mobile unit will be at Santubong Lounder in Damai Beach on Thursday (Mar 11) from 9am to 1pm. On Saturday (Mar 13), the blood bank mobile unit will be at Emart Tabuan Jaya as well as Summermall Food Court from 10am to 3pm.

“On Sunday (Mar 14), the unit will be at the Council of the City of Kuching South (MBKS) Community Hall, Padungan Road from 9am to 2.30pm,” he said.
