KUCHING: More participants are needed to hit the target of 3,000 runners for the Bunny Run for Autism 2023 that will be held in conjunction with Autism Awareness Month.

The organising chairman of the event cum secretary of Kuching Autistic Association (KAA), Duane Reggie Tersan said that there are currently just over 1,000 participants who have registered as of last week.

“We hope for more participation from the government sector to support our run on April 30.

“For government linked companies, if they are not able to support financially, we encourage their employees to join this run,” he said during a press conference for the presentation of cheques at the KAA Centre here today (Mar 15).

Duane disclosed that the main sponsors of the event are 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta, alongside other corporations and non-profit organisations such as I-Metal, Lee Onn Development Sdn Bhd, Tecktonic & Sons, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and others.

He highlighted that the sponsors’ contributions went beyond financial support, as they also provided participants for the event.

“This event aims to raise awareness on the acceptance of the autism community in Kuching and beyond, as well as to raise funds for the operation of KAA’s yearly operation.

“The starting point of the charity run is located at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) building and the flag off will be at 6.30 am that day,” he said.

There will also be lucky draw after the run, with the main prize being a bicycle sponsored by Kuching Love Book Association.

Also present were the patron of KAA, Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud and the representatives of the sponsors.

Interested participants may register online via http://t2u.asia/e/29527 or manually at KAA office before March 30, 2023.
