KUCHING: The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) has resumed its Clinic Day visits outside the city to reconnect with its childhood cancer patients and families.

Last week, the society’s support services team was in Bintulu to join its Kuching paediatric oncologist during the Bintulu Clinic Day.

“We caught up with about 33 patients, their families, and the medical team in Bintulu. Families also received goodie bags and packed food kindly sponsored by our donors while awaiting their appointment,” it said in a social media post.

The society also recently hosted two working visits to its Kuching halfway home from three childhood cancer organisations in Malaysia and Brunei, including Persatuan Sokongan Kanser Kanak-Kanak (PPUKM) from Negeri Sembilan, National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) from Kuala Lumpur, and Yayasan Kanser Kanak-Kanak Brunei (YAKSA Brunei).

“During the visit, our vice president Dayang Juliana and executive director Jodie Sim welcomed the groups and gave a briefing on our halfway home operations as well as the society’s support services.

“There were also discussions on how our organisations can collaborate to advance better care for the childhood cancer community in Malaysia and Brunei. The visit ended with a brief tour of our halfway home,” SCCS said.
