MIRI: A man sustained bodily injuries when a car that he was travelling in, plunged into a ravine at Jalan Marudi on Friday night.

The incident occurred at about 2km from the Marudi junction.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue operation centre (PGO), the Perodua Axia vehicle was found about 200 metres deep into the ravine.

It was believed that the driver had lost control of the vehicle before the mishap occurred.

A team of firemen from Miri fire station was immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving the alert around 9.51pm.

They managed to rescue the 30-year-old victim from the car and rushed him to Miri Hospital for further treatment.

The rescue operation ended at 11.24pm.
