Car reported stolen found

The BMW 530i was found.

MIRI: A bluestone metallic BMW 530i worth RM200,000 which was reported as stolen while its owner went jogging at Coco Cabana last Friday evening  was found this early morning (Feb 16, Tuesday).

The car was found parked by the roadside along the Jalan Kuala Baram Bypass Sungai Tujoh around 1.45am and a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and a mobile police vehicle (MPV) unit were deployed to the scene.

When contacted, Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the discovery of the stolen car.

He said that the car was reported stolen last Friday around 6.30pm. The 39-year-old owner of the car, who is an engineer, went for a jog around the area earlier.

“He arrived at Coco Cabana around 5pm and when he was done, the car was no longer there. A police report was lodged that same day, “said Hakemal.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle.
