KUCHING: To support cancer patients through the Covid-19 pandemic, CanHOPE Kuching distributed care kit packs to the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) and Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG) on Feb 4 in conjunction with World Cancer Day.

“Annually on Feb 4, World Cancer Day is observed in order to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer as early as possible,” said Connie Tan, CanHOPE area manager and counsellor for East Malaysia.

She said 15 care kit packs were handed over to SCCS and another 15 were handed over to SBCSG.

The care kit packs for children with cancer at SCCS included ‘I am a Cancer Warrior’ plushies, antibacterial wet tissue packs, and hand-knitted caps.

The care kit packs for those at SBCSG, on the other hand, included hand sanitiser, antibacterial wet tissue packs, and face masks.

“We also included breast self-examination leaflets in the packs for breast cancer patients,” she said.
