SIBU: A man was killed in a road accident at 7th Mile, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here last Saturday (Sept 12).
According to district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, the deceased was identified as Kardi, aged 49, from Indonesia.
“The 9.15pm incident occurred after the victim suddenly crossed the road, in the path of an oncoming car. The motorist then hit the victim.
“Early investigation found that the cause of the accident was the deceased’s careless action of crossing without looking out for traffic,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 13).
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics of Sibu Hospital while the driver of the car did not sustain any injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
