Caring Extrameal Bintulu donates to fire victims

BINTULU: Following the recent fire cases involving three longhouses, Extrameal Bintulu launched a light contribution to assist residents in the three areas.

Bintulu’s Extrameal founder Francis Ngu Hown Hua said the donations in the form of food, kitchen utensils and other necessities were donated to Uma Bawang’s longhouse residents at Belaga Asap River Relocation Scheme, Chandi House, Tau River, Selangau and Rumah Umpang, Ulu Bauh Chelum, Selangau.

“We hope this contribution can ease the burden and difficulties faced by the victims, not just the homeless but also those whose daily necessities were destroyed in the fire.

“I hope the victims continue to remain patient and strong in spirit and faith,” he said.

Ngu also thanked all the donors.

The donated essentials being taken to a distribution centre.

Flash donations have been launched through the Facebook page Extrameal Bintulu as well as Francis Ngu Hown Hua which now has over 95,000 followers.

Thanks to all who have donated and collected the necessary items to be given to residents of the three longhouses affected by the fire,” he said.

The three longhouses were razed in a span of five days.

The first fire incident occurred on April 14 at Chandi House in Sungai Tau, Selangau which affected 230 residents including a disabled person (OKU) and injured another resident.

The second incident occurred at Uma Bawang Longhouse in Sungai Asap, with 100 residents from 30 families living in separate houses after their longhouse was destroyed in a fire on April 15, followed by Ruman Umpang, Ulu Bauh Chelum near Selangau, which was razed on April 19 involving 161 residents.
