KUCHING: The Caring Food Aid 3.0 campaign resumes with some 300 sets of dry rations handed out to needy families.

The campaign, organised by Persatuan Penjaja dan Peniaga Bahagian Kuching dan Samarahan, was held at the East Gate City commercial centre, 9th Mile, Jalan Kuching-Serian, last Saturday (Nov 27).

The needy families were identified with the assistance of Temenggong Tan Joo Poi along with the various committee members under his management.

“We are pleased to be able to continue our efforts to assist where we can, particularly in the Kuching and Kota Samarahan area, those who are in need.

“Our point of view is that as businesses, collectively we have reaped our income and livelihoods from the public and even though business has been somewhat stalled for the past two years, we are happy that we are able to give back a little to people in need,” the association’s advisor Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok said in a statement.

The association’s programme was also joined by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang, who helped distribute the rations and food packs.

“We also had input and feedback from our MPP chairman and we thank him for joining us this morning to help with the distribution of the food aid.

“Of course, we will never be able to match what the government has been doing but we see our contribution as complementary to the government’s assistance and we sincerely hope that it will help,” added Sim.
