MIRI: Morsjaya Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) has been told to conduct a comprehensive survey on children diagnosed with autism here.

“This would be the most important step in the collection of any information to establish a centre catering to children with autism in the southern part of the city,” said Minister of Transport Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin on Saturday night.

Lee was responding to PDK Morsjaya chairman Alah Imang’s request to set up a centre in Morsjaya for children with special needs during its fundraising dinner held a hotel here.

“The survey’s outcome would help us get important data on how many autistic children there are in the city population , especially in the southern part of the city,” said Lee.

He added, it would also allow them to provide proper training to improve children with special needs.

At the fundraising dinner , Lee pledged a grant worth at RM10,000 to Morsjaya PDK.

Also present were Miri Mayor Adam Yii and councillor Karambir Singh who represented Piasau Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting.
