SIMUNJAN: The Cashless Agrobank Programme has been launched in Simunjan, as one of the initial districts to facilitate cashless transactions in Sarawak.

Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said that Simunjan is the third location to implement this innovative programme.

“I understand that our district is the third location for this programme. Therefore, I advise all local businesses to adopt cashless transactions in their daily sales,” he said during the launch of the Cashless Agrobank Programme here recently.

As part of the initiative, Awla presented awards to the 2023/2023 Deposit Bonanza Campaign winners.

Agrobank Sarawak regional director Abdul Halek Abdullah, in his speech, underlined the programme’s collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to educate locals about online fraud.

Sarawak, he noted, is particularly susceptible to such incidents.

The event also saw the announcement of funding by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED) for the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme, aimed at supporting rural traders through Agrobank.
