An APM photo shows rescue work being carried out to free the cat from the sink pipe hole.

MIRI: Cats may find themselves in a tight spot because they don’t realise they can’t fit through. That’s because a cat’s super sensitive whiskers spread roughly as wide as a cat does, normally allowing the cat to gauge where she can slide through.

An APM photo shows the cat finally freed from the tiny hole

This was exactly what happened to a cat when it got itself stuck in a sink pipe hole at Food Land, Jalan Tanjung Lobang, here on Monday (Nov 28).

Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri officer Lt Mirwan Shah Masri said they received an emergency call around 2.20 pm from a teenage boy.

“A three-member team was deployed to the scene and when they arrived they found the feline with its head stuck in the sink pipe hole and proceeded to free it,” he said.

Once it was freed from the hole, the team released the cat to its original habitat.

The 16-year-old complainant heard a cat meowing non-stop when he passed the area.

Upon checking, he found the cat stuck in the pipe hole. Fearing for its safety, he alerted APM.
