KAPIT: The fiber optic internet service offered by TM UNIFI throughout Kapit will boost change in terms of social aspects, e-commerce, socio-economy, and education.

In saying this, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi who is also Kapit MP, stated that with the high speed internet reaching 800Mbps, it will surely become a catalyst for the traders here in selling their products  from the district known as the ‘Gem of Borneo’.

“Apart from being famous in the ecotourism industry, Kapit has become one of the main producers of various handicraft products made by the locals.

“They have managed to attract the attention of industry players by highlighting them in the international market.

“Thus, the boom in development through the high-speed internet network in Kapit will be able to further drive the market potential of these handicraft products on the e-commerce platform and provide an abundance of income for the locals,” Nanta said in his Facebook Page today.

Adding on, he also stated that offering the high speed here is also  in line with KPDNHEP’s efforts through the Retail Sector Digitalisation Initiative (Redi) Programme.

“Offering this high speed internet in rural areas such as Kapit is needed in order to boost the trading industry during this endemic phase,” he explained.
