KUCHING: Those who are Covid-19 positive and categorised under Category 1 and Category 2 — having no symptoms and mild symptoms respectively — may be suitable for home quarantine, monitoring and treatment.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this following medical expert assessment on the matter.

“However, this is subject to strict terms and conditions laid out by SDMC,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Aug 22).

He said there would be daily enforcement to monitor those under home quarantine.

“It is an offence to go out of the house even though you feel well. Quarantine is to prevent you from passing Covid-19 to more people.

“Isolate and do not mix with family members who are not infected. Eat alone. Everyone wears face masks even at home.”

He also mentioned that it was important to keep the house well ventilated.

“When undergoing home quarantine, keep yourself well hydrated by drinking an average of three litres of water daily.

“Also check your temperature four to six times per day. If you have a fever with over 38.5C, take Panadol.”

He stated that it was also important to check oxygen saturation four to six times per day, and call the hospital if the reading is less than 95 per cent.

“Lying prone (sleeping on stomach) helps with oxygen saturation.”

Dr Sim said 99 percent of Category 1 and 2 cases would recover due to the high vaccination rate in Sarawak.
