KUANTAN: The CEE 7 and CEE 9 vehicle number plates received the highest bid at RM58,000 each in the online vehicle number plate bidding system (JPJeBid) since it was first introduced in Pahang.

State Road Transport Department director Mohammad Abdullah said on the overall, the CEE series managed to collect RM1.02 million involving 424 successful applicants for the series which was opened to the public for five days starting Aug 30.

“This is the highest bidding ever recorded, with a 19 percent increase compared to the CED registration number series which managed to rake in RM895,940.

“This increase may be due to the introduction of the JPJeBid system which facilitates the bidding process by the public as well as the widespread promotion by JPJ,” he said in a press conference here yesterday.

Mohammad added the CEE 96 number plate received the highest number of bidders with 13, while CEE 11 (12 bidders), CEE 33 (11 bidders) while 9,575 numbers which were not taken, will be opened to the public.

“For the public who are keen to bid, they can deal with JPJ offices throughout the state but are recommended to register with the new computing system, Mysikap first,” he added.

He said in the latest exercise, a total of 1,879 receipts were sold with RM18,790 collected for 904 bids. − Bernama
