“It will be a day of rest and fun at the 1,000-foot ancient Bidayuh settlement. At the same time, visitors can enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, fresh air and spring water,” he said.

He added that Sarawak Day falls on July 22 and although the main celebration will be held in Bintulu this year, those in Kuching can celebrate it together at BBHC.

“Sarawak Day is a happy and proud day for Bidayuh originating from Bung Bratak and all Sarawakians.

“It is the day our state was free from British colonisation and foreign domination. Who would not be happy about this day? Freedom is very precious. Without it, life is rendered hollow and meaningless,” he pointed out.

Minos also thanked the Sarawak government for officially recognising and declaring Sarawak Day as a public holiday.

In 2016, the late chief minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem declared July 22 as a public holiday to commemorate Sarawak’s independence from British colonisation.
