KUCHING: The first annual Kuching South City Council (MBKS) New Year Countdown event will commence tonight (Dec 31) at 9pm.
The event will be held at MBKS Square — the open space in front of the MBKS building at Jalan Padungan.
Live performances from Malaysian artists include Rynn Lin Yu Zhong; Vic Teo; Eric Lim Kien Fei; Faye An Ying Fei; Beta Teo Eng San; Joseph Ng; as well as finalists of Kuching Got Talent Show Adelynna Yang Tze Wee; and Nicole Kho.
The event will also feature hip-hop and K-pop performances by dance groups KinAte, The Spectacular and La Danse.
Food and drinks stalls are also being lined up for the enjoyment of the crowd. They can also play games and win prizes while enjoying the fireworks display.
According to MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, the event is organised with rendered services from Riverside Majestic Hotel, Tea FM, Echo Sound and Super Canopy Sdn Bhd.
“We appeal to all to come and join us for the MBKS New Year Countdown 2020.
“The event itself compliments the event held at Waterfront Kuching and we hope this event will be able to attract a lot of visitors and familiarise them with MBKS facilities,” said Wee.
It is noted that no main roads will be closed around MBKS areas and the MBKS community hall would be opened up for parking space.
