KUCHING: A celebratory mood is in the air with shopping malls, shops, offices starting to put up the Sarawak flag to commemorate Sarawak Day which falls on July 22.

And in the Batu Kawah constituency, its assemblyman Datuk Seri Prof Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian took time out to distribute the Sarawak flag to residents and visitors at the Batu Kawah Riverbank Park.

Dr Sim, who is also Deputy Premier, said constituency is now preparing for the Sarawak Day celebration.

“The (Sarawak government under the) late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in May 2016 had gazetted July 22 as Sarawak Independence Day.

“It is typical of Adenan’s way to ensure Sarawakians understand the history, aspiration and vision of the past, current, and future generation of Sarawak, be it officially or privately,” he said in his Facebook post on Monday (July 18).

Therefore, Dr Sim called on on Sarawakians either in Sarawak or elsewhere in the world, to celebrate Sarawak Day.
