SEMATAN: Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) Lundu Campus will be the main Centexs campus for IT and Augmented Reality (AR) courses.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the campus was collaborating with Huawei for IT studies as well as a cybersecurity course.
“We want to train technicians in IT and 5G telecommunications at Centexs Lundu Campus,” he said during the earth-breaking ceremony for a mosque and entrepreneurs corner (Anjung Usahawan) in Telok Melano yesterday.
He said that Centexs Lundu Campus was currently being constructed and practical courses would be conducted there, while the Santubong campus would be a laboratory.
“That Centexs (in Lundu) will also have a residential facility, meaning that students can stay at the campus and study various disciplines including AR,” he said.
He pointed out that with AR, people could visit Lundu virtually and see places of attraction like Telok Melano as if it were ‘live’.
Abang Johari pointed out that Sarawak have advanced in IT, as many people were now able to conduct business online, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
