CENTEXS provide technical skills needed in various industries

DALAT: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak(CENTEXS) has trained a total of 1,700 sons and daughters of Sarawak for the last three years.

“Since its introduction in 2014 up till now, CENTEXS has trained about 1,700 anak Sarawak,” said its Chief Executive Officer, Syeed Mohd Hussein.

He pointed out that the mission of the centre was to train them in technical skills needed in various industries including the digital industries.

Syeed stated this in his welcoming speech at the official opening of the temporary campus of CENTEXS Dalat , here, over the weekend.

The event was officiated by Dalat State Assemblywoman, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah who is also the Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development.

He said, in its effort to assist the locals to possess certain skills, CENTEXS plan to train one from every family in the district .

Syeed said, a permanent campus estimated to cost RM50 million will be built in Dalat in two years.

Touching on the temporary premises, located at a shop lot at Dalat Bazaar,Syeed said it started with the first batch of fifteen trainees taking Fashion Technology(tailoring).

“The permanent campus would be in operation sometimes in June this year after the renovation works on one of the government flats in Dalat is completed. CENTEXS belongs to Sarawak Foundation, being the biggest share holder,” disclosed Syeed.
