KUCHING: The Demak Laut service centre will continue to provide assistance to constituents to ease their hardship.
Its assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said assistance will be given in turns to ensure that those in need receive help quickly and efficiently.
“To ensure that community members in need get the help they deserve, the donations will be distributed in stages.
“We have a record of those who need help and for each of those who applied for assistance, we will make sure that they receive it accordingly,” he said.
Hazland said this when commenting on the presentation of donations to constituents in Kampung Tabuan Tengah on Thursday.
Meanwhile, on the recent 2021 Budget, he described it as being a people-centric budget especially in addressing the economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The announcement of assistance to fishermen introduced by the Sarawak government in 2020 is being continued in 2021 by allocating RM29 million.
“Also announced is assistance to farmers of which RM60 million is allocated for those involved in oil palm and rubber planting where the prices of the commodities fluctuate,” he said.
Hazland also lauded the announcement to pay RM250 per month for a period of six months to 82,000 B40 households who missed out of the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) assistance
“The assistance provided shows the concern of the Sarawak government to the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
