Centre to handle social issues in Mukah soon

MUKAH: The Integrated Sarawak Social Intervention Centre (ISSIC) will be set up here to handle certain social issues including those involving young people.

The centre will also serve as a social support and intervention referral centre in the division.

The ground floor of the new Mukah Administrative Building at Jalan Wawasan here has been proposed as the location for the centre.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah visited the location on Wednedsay (Aug 11).

The Sarawak Social Development Council is under the Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development.

During Fatimah’s visit, Sarawak Social Development Council executive secretary Dr Zufar Yadi Brendan Abdullah briefed Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, about the plan for the centre.

Currently, the five-storey Mukah Administrative Building, popularly known as the Recoda Building, houses the offices of Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM), Mukah Division Community Welfare as well as Mukah branch Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

Mukah Division Residen, Hamdiah Bakir and officers from Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) were present during Fatimah’s visit.
