Chain accident claims life of motorcyclist

KUCHING: A motorcyclist died while another sustained severe injuries in an accident at Jalan Tan Sri Abang Ikhwan.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said two motorcycles and a car were involved.

One of the motorcycles involved in the fatal accident.

Investigations revealed that the accident happened when a motorcycle coming from Jalan Sultan Tengah attempted to overtake a car and collided with another biker (identified as Muhammad Amilluddin Mansor, 24) who was riding from Jalan Depo roundabout to Jalan Sultan Tengah.

“A car that also came from Jalan Sultan Tengah could not avoid the motorcycles and hit one of the bikers.

“Both motorcyclists sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said.

Alexson noted that Amilluddin died while being treatment whereas the other biker is still receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

The driver and passenger of the car that was involved in the accident that happened around 9pm on Monday (Nov 30) were not injured.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
