KUCHING: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sri Aman chairman Leon Jimat Donald has decided to leave the party.

Leon, who is also a committee member of DAP Sarawak, tendered his letter of resignation addressed to DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen on Tuesday (Jan 11).

He said he felt it was time to depart from the party although it was a difficult decision to make.

He also denied joining Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) led by Julau MP Larry Sng.

Leon said he was proud to have served DAP for the past 13 years, adding that he would now be focusing on non-political work through non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

At the same time, he assured that he would continue serving the people of Sri Aman through the NGOs currently headed by him.

Leon had contested as DAP candidate for the Simanggang seat in the past three state elections, including the recently concluded 12th Sarawak state election, but lost in all his attempts.
