KUCHING: The Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) is taking up the Premier’s advice that the public and private sectors should work together.

On Friday a delegation from the chamber led by its president Datuk Tan Jit Kee called on the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Sarawak.

They were received by permanent secretary to the ministry Chiew Chee Yau.

Tan said the visit was part of steps being taken by KCGCCI to make proactive approaches to various ministries and departments of the government, in answer to the Premier’s call.

He said they had a good dialogue with MIPD with various issues affecting the business community discussed, among them, about used tyres for road construction, Kuching Port Authority (KPA) channel maintenance fees, progress on quay crane implementation, status of the new Kuching deep sea port and review of JKR’s standard specification for concrete mix.

Chiew meanwhile said for Sarawak to become a developed state by 2030, there needs to be strong collaboration between the private and public sectors.
