Charity sale aims to raise RM250,000

SIBU: The Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Taman Rajang Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the school alumni are aiming to raise RM250,000 from a charity sale at the school on November 11.

The chairman of SJK Taman Rajang Alumni Association, King Teck Ho, said that the programme would take place from 8 am until 2 pm at SJK Taman Rajang.

“The proceeds from this charity sale will be used to refurbish school facilities such as the multipurpose hall, basketball and badminton courts and restrooms,” he said when met by reporters at a press conference at SJK Taman Rajang here yesterday (Nov 2).

Kiing also said that the charity sale was the second of its kind, following the first one held in 2018. Its primary objective was to raise funds to upgrade school facilities.

“As of today, we have successfully sold charity coupons amounting to approximately RM180,000. We hope that more people will show their support to make this charity sale a success,” he added.

Kiing said that there would be 29 food and beverage stalls at the event.

An e-sports area would also be set up for the entertainment for children who attending the programme.

The official opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by the Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

Other invited guests include the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng and   Sibu MP Oscar Ling.

Coupons are available for purchase at   RM2, RM5, and RM10 each. They can be obtained by contacting Lau Kiew Hung at 019-8879598.

“We invite school alumni to come and show their support for the charity sale programme,” he said.

Also present at the event were the chairman of  of SJK Taman Rajang PTA, Siew Heng Sam, the organising chairman Ying Charng Lieh, and the principal of SJK Taman Rajang Sim Siew King.
