12 initiatives to ensure state on right track

KUCHING: The 12 initiatives introduced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to chart Sarawak’s way forward are not only to revive the economy due to Covid-19.

They are also to ensure that Sarawak is on the right track in becoming a high-income state by 2030.

Through these initiatives, Sarawak is also able to produce more skilled manpower to meet the increasingly challenging job market in the future, asserted Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has proven to develop the state based on its own mould by taking into account the interest of all.

“We can see it during Abang Johari’s winding-up speech, where the focus of the state government is on bringing development, including rural development,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune on Saturday (Nov 14).

He said besides that the state government also looked after the welfare of its people by channelling various aids including the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS).

“Almost RM800 million were channelled to 397,000 households and 392,000 eligible B40 singles,” he said.

Abdul Rahman said such assistance could indirectly reduce the people’s financial burden in facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In addition, the state civil servants would be paid an incentive of one and a half month of their basic salary, or a minimum of RM2, 000 before the year ends,” he said.

Sarawak government also does not forget the services of the federal civil servants by given them a one-off incentive of RM500 each.

“This goes to show that every layer of the society is a priority of the Sarawak government. Therefore, we hope the people in the state will continue to give their strong support to the state government led by GPS,” he said.

He pointed out that this would help to ensure the development plans in the state will be continued and able to be carried out effectively.
