MIRI: Ratepayers in the city can still get their hands on cheaper garbage bins provided they make full payment of this year’s assessment rates for residential properties.

They will then be eligible to buy the two-wheeled bins for only RM50 each as the Miri City Council is subsidising the cost of the bin which is normally sold at RM180.

Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said due to overwhelming response the subsidised bin promotion period has now been extended to March 31.

“The first batch of the bins has already been sold, and the second batch will be arriving soon,” he said yesterday (Feb 28) after chairing the full council meeting.

Applications must be submitted to the council’s counter (at the old building) at Miri UTC and the bins collected from the council’s Public Cleaning and Maintenance Section during office hours.
