Chiam bags seven prizes at the Local Fruits Photography Competition

MIRI: Chiam Tak Chee was the biggest winner of the Local Fruits Photography Competition organised by the Miri City Council (MCC) recently.

His seven entries to the competition themed, ‘The Unique Local Fruits’ were selected among the top ten winners.

The other winning entries were submitted by Aaron Sim Jun Chiek, Kho Bian Chong and Than Lin Jiun respectively.

They will receive RM200 cash prize for each winning entry and a free copy of the Miri City Coffee Book: Uniquely Borneo.

The results of the competition were handed over to Miri mayor Adam Yii at a e won seven virtual handover ceremony yesterday.

Yii expressed his gratitude to the Miri Photography Society for assisting the council to successfully organise the project.

The competition was held under MCC’s Tourism Development Standing Committee, which started from April 30 and ended on May 18.

The competition received a total of 140 entries from 28 participants.

Yii explained that the competition was aimed at promoting local fruits from across Miri and also to boost the city’s tourism industry.

The selected photographs will be published in the Miri City Coffee Book.

The book to be published soon will showcase the uniqueness of local fruits that Miri have to offer.

“I hope the competition can be continued through this partnership and the role of the photography society will be fully acknowledged,” Yii said.
