Chief Minister gives out RM592,500 to associations

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang attended ‘Majlis Khatamal Al-Quran dan Iftar Perdana Agensi-agensi Islam’ at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here Wednesday.

Earlier the couple joined the other guests to perform the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

Later, the chief minister handed over the financial grants to Urusetia Saudara Kita (USK) throughout the state to help them with their activities.

For 2017, a total of RM324,000 was given to 29 USK; RM504,000 to 35 USK in 2018; and RM592,500 to 43 USK this year.

Also present were Rural Electricity Assistant Minister who is also the minister in-charge of Islamic Affairs Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha.
