Chief Minister makes one-day visit to Kapit

KAPIT: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg made a day’s working visit here yesterday morning.

He and his entourage touched down on a helipad at Dewan Sri Baleh at about 10.45am.

Abang Johari and his entourage are briefed on the proposed improvement of Lily Pond Recreational Centre.

Accompanying him were State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Abang Johari was welcomed by his deputies Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing; cabinet ministers, namely, Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity And Ombudsman) Datuk Talip Zulpilip, Rural Water Supply Assistant Minister Datuk Liwan Lagang, Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sharifah Hasidah Syeed Aman Gazali, several political secretaries to the chief minister, Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chuk Pai Ugon, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong Punan, heads of the various government departments and local community leaders.

Upon arrival Abang Johari and his entourage were feted to a high tea at Dewan Sri Baleh prior to attending “Sarawak Development Coordination Committee Meeting” in the conference room of the State Office Complex at Jalan Bletih.

After lunch in the conference room of the State Office Complex, the chief minister visited various rural transformation development projects including the new Kapit Hospital exit road, improvement of Lily Pond Recreational Centre, improvement of Kapit Town Square and the proposed riverbank and slope protection at Kapit Waterfront.
