KUCHING: The Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED) will be organising the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneur Award 2017 in collaboration with Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneur Chamber (DUBS), Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) and Idris Ibrahim & Co Groups of Companies (IIG).
Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg will grace the fourth series of the award to be held in October this year.
According to Assistant Minister of E-Commerce and Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small Medium Entreprise (SME) Development, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, one of the aims of the award is to help produce successful entrepreneurs.
“It is also to recognise successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs for their contributions to the state development, and also to identify and recognise the successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs who can become models for the other Bumiputera entrepreneurs,” said Naroden during a press conference on the fifth floor of the State Legislative Assembly yesterday.
“The nomination started today and will close on 15 August, 2017. The IIG was elected as the head of technical committee to receive and assess the nominations,” he added.
The award is divided into various categories including “Anugerah Usahawan Bumiputera Cemerlang”, “Anugerah Usahawan Berjaya” , “Anugerah Usahawan Harapan” for women and men (45 years old and below), and “Anugerah Usahawan Belia” (18-30 years old).
The winners will represent Bumiputeras in the Sarawak State Entrepreneur Of The Year Award and in any entrepreneur award at the national and international levels.
