MIRI: A two-year-old girl who was trapped in an MPV vehicle for about half an hour yesterday morning in Desa Murni was rescued before the child succumbed to the heat of the day.

According to sources, the girl’s parent parked the vehicle after returning from a joyride around 9am and went into their house leaving the car key inside the vehicle.

Unfortunately, the toddler was still sitting in the rear seat and the doors automatically locked themselves sending the parents into a panic.

Their next-door neighbour immediately called the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) at 9.26am and three of the men responded.

It took about 13 minutes for the men to unlock the car and rescue the toddler.

It was rather fortunate that the toddler’s parent parked the car in their shaded car porch.

Despite the hot weather, the toddler was alright.
