KUCHING: All childcare centres, nurseries and kindergartens across the state are allowed to operate except for those in Sibu.

This was confirmed by the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah when speaking to reporters during the presentation of food donation to flood victims here at Majmal Mall Building today.

“Childcare centres, nurseries and pre-schools located in the areas that are enforced under the conditional MCO (CMCO) and recovery movement control order (RMCO) are allowed to resume operations,” she said.

The green light for taska centre to operate during CMCO and RMCO is crucial for working parents to solve the logistics of childcare, Fatimah said.

“We understand that some of the sectors must continue to function, with parents who work as frontliners and teachers for instance, leaving their homes for work,” she added.

The minister also asserted that the centres would be allowed to operate depending on the approval from the ministry upon inspection on the premises’ compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“We need to ensure the centre is a safe place for children.” she pointed out.
