KUCHING: All taska (nurseries) and tadika (kindergartens) in Kuching will remain closed as the district is still a red zone.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas explained that the committee discussed on this matter following the unstable (Covid-19) situation in Kuching.

“We fear that it may spread because we can see that there are several positive cases involving children.

“Hence, our decision remains the same — which is for all taska and tadika in the red zone to remain close,” he said at the daily Covid-19 update press conference today.

When asked whether tuition centres in green zones are allowed to operate, Uggah explained that SDMC is discussing with relevant agencies on the matter.

He said that the committee’s proposal is to allow tuition centres to operate in green zones but that they had to wait for the relevant agencies’ decision.
