KUCHING: Nurseries that have children of frontliners in them are required to submit an application to the Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry (KWKPK) to continue their operations.

KWKPK Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the reason for that is to give supportive services to the frontliners who are working to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Kindergartens and nurseries under Covid-19 red zones have been ordered to close for 14 days effective April 20.

“This is in line with the announcement made by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during the Covid-19 standard operating procedure enforcement press conference held today (Apr 19),” she said.

She added that there are a total of 2,795 kindergartens and 234 nurseries registered in Sarawak.

The closure involves 2,518 kindergartens and 213 nurseries in the red zones.

“All kindergartens and nurseries should comply with these directives in order to curb the spread of Covid-19,” she reminded.
