KUCHING: Some much-needed 150,000 face masks will be distributed to the state’s pandemic frontliners.

The face masks donated by the Chinese Consulate General in Kuching have been handed over to the Sarawak government.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian then conveyed his appreciation to China for assisting the state.

“Thank you very much for the face masks in the spirit of a united war against Covid-19,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

He added that during the corresponding time last year, the Sarawak government, the Chinese community in the state, and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) also donated face masks to China, all in the same spirit.

“We did not expect to receive the reciprocal of our friendship so soon in so many ways,” said Dr Sim, who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing.

Earlier on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister and SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and Dr Sim had received the face masks at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex.
