Chinese consul general calls on Taib

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from the new Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping.

According to a statement, the visit on Tuesday (July 19) was Xing’s first after his appointment on June 3.

“This visit aims to continue the good relationship with the Sarawak government as well as to strengthen cooperation in all aspects of development and economy for the benefit of both parties,” Xing said.

Also accompanying Xing were deputy consul general Song Chonghong and Kuching South City Council mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
