SIBU: LED lights creatively arranged to form shapes of various models and figures for a local lantern
exhibition have become a major attraction for the public here.
The lantern exhibition organised by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Pasar Teku at Sibu Town Square started on February 3 and will last till March 8.
The exhibition runs from 5pm till 11pm throughout the 34 days.
The LED light models were created by experts from China.
According to Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI), the purpose of the event is to cooperate with the government to promote local tourism.
To add to the fun, there are also sales of food by local hawkers who can rent stalls in order to promote their food during the occasion.
A local woman, Monica Nica, told reporters that she and her husband spent their time together at the event after work.
“My husband and I decided to come here after work and spend quality time together. And we feel very happy after seeing the beautiful lights. They are so colourful. We are really grateful to the organiser of this event. It makes Sibu Town merrier,” she said.
There also lot of stage shows and other forms of entertainment during the 34-day period.
