KUCHING: The price control scheme for the Christmas festive season will be implemented from Dec 22 to 31. It will be officially announced on December 19.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Chong Chieng Jen said the 10-day scheme was to ensure some basic items used during the festive season were being sold at controlled or lower prices.
“During the Hari Raya Aidifitri price control scheme this year, the prices of basic goods were controlled and stable.
“This is because we received cooperation from the traders. There were no increases in the prices of basic goods,” he said.
Chong was speaking to reporters after the launch of ‘Hari Bertemu Pelanggan’ (Customers’ Day) programme organised by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) at the Sultan Iskandar Building here yesterday.
The chairman of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak hoped that the traders would continue to cooperate during the Christmas and Chinese New Year festive celebrations.
“Soon after Christmas, we will be celebrating Chinese New Year in less than a month,” he said.
