Chuat is new BPA chief

KUCHING: Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat has been appointed as the new Bintulu Port Authority (BPA) chairman.

He replaces Democratic Action Party (DAP) national central executive committee member Dr John Brian Anthony who helmed the post since November 2018.

“BPA congratulates YB Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat as its new chairman,” BPA posted on its Facebook page late Tuesday.

Chuat, 61, is a former state welfare assistant minister.

He had his early education in his hometown of Betong and holds a Diploma in Business Studies from the Brighton Polytechnic, United Kingdom.

He is also a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for the 14th parliament session since August 12, 2018.

His predecessor John Brian welcomed the appointment of Chuat. “Congratulations YB Datuk; work hard for the country,” he wrote in his Facebook on Tuesday.
